2019-11-23· I just installed the temperature sensor in my 66 with a fuel injected and used plumber's sealant from ACE Hardware. Cranked it down tight after applying the sealant to the sending unit threads. I'm happy to report no leaks and the temperature gauge functions perfectly. I did quite a bit of research on the need for sealant on NPT threads and found that some kind of sealant is advisable.

The capillary sending unit on mechanical gauges do not rely on an electrical ground for it to operate. On the other hand, the electrical sending units depend on a good ground between the sending unit and the engine!
